Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe was raised in a mixed ethnic family. The father of her is Nigerian and Swiss as well as her mom is English. She was a student at The Brit School when she was 14. She was a student at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London which she graduated with a BA in acting. While at school she appeared in several stage productions, including King Henry V's princess Katherine or Wuthering Heights.
Madekwe began her acting career through a short film called Storm Damage. Since then, she has appeared in Teachers, Doctors Casualty and Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe's breakthrough came in 2007's Woody Allen movie Cassandra's Dream. It was in the role of Colin Farrell (who played the character of Cassandra) and Ewan McGrath. After that, she played Elisha in the single-episode BBC Three drama pilot West 10 LDN as well as appearing in the six episodes of Trexx as well as Flipside playing Ollie. She also landed the role of Bambi in The ITV2 drama series Secret Diary of a Call Girl which aired in three and two series. Madekwe appeared in the comedy How to Lose Friends and alienate others (2008). Her credits in the theatre are Little Sweet Thing (by Roy Williams) and Flight Path (by David Watson).
Madekwe's US debut was in 2009 with her dramatic The Beautiful Life. The show aired just two episodes prior to being ended on The CW. Ashley Davenport, a character from ABC's Revenge drama series was cast to play Ashley Davenport. Madekwe's exit from the series was officially announced in May of 2013. Following two seasons as the main character she appeared as a guest in the first episode of season 3. Madekwe starred as Tituba in the TV show Salem from 2014 until 2016. Madekwe married her long-time partner, Iddo. They worked together on Secret Diary of a Call Girl. He also played alongside Madekwe on Salem.
Ashley Leggat grew up in Hamilton Ontario with an extended family. Four of her older brothers were also in the family and included twins Todd & Bram, Brett & Rob. Ashley's brothers were all extremely athletic, and they played baseball as well as hockey throughout the winter and summer months. She grew up in the arenas and baseball. Ashley didn't walk, instead she would dance. At age two and a half, she was introduced to Baby Ballet. Ashley was enthralled by dance immediately after that. After graduating from the high school she attended, Ashley danced competitively in the highest divisions of tap, jazz, ballet, pointe, acrobatics, musical theatre, lyrical and hip-hop. Ashley took home the best soloist honor at each major dance competition, including International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers, 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance and many more, just to mention some.
